We checked in at the Whale Area on the 4th Floor at 11:00 today.
She was really really nervous...
They asked if she had anything with her like a blanket or a stuffed animal she wanted to bring into the OR with her. She asked if she could bring her jeans. The nurse said in a baffled tone - "ok?" I knew exactly why... and no she didn't snuggle up next to her cell phone in the OR.
They said it went really well. The doctor confirmed that it was good that we took them out. They were really large and had a lot of scar tissue. Colleen said the gas made her feel like she was on the tilt a whirl ride. She also got really giggily right before she went under. She was cracking jokes with the nurse who brought her in after recovery. She asked "when do I get to see those ugly things?" Too bad the tonsils had already made their way to the lab.
She was in great spirits and acting like she was in no pain until about 2 hours ago. I think the heavy narcotics have worn off. She's still doing good but she's gotten really really quiet. She said she's in some pain now. Lauren and I made her some chicken soup and she's eaten some popsicles and ice-cream. She'll continue to take it easy over the next few days. What a relief that everything went so smoothly.
