The 4th of July

It's fun sitting here on Saturday night knowing I have one more whole day off of work. I wish all work weeks were only 4 days long! Acually next week I only work two days and then we are off to Chicago!

Despite the serious look on Kai's face, although crabby at times, yesterday was a good day for all of us. The weather wasn't great but it wasn't raining either. Lauren, Kai and I ran errands in the morning and escaped to the park briefly, while we let Thom sleep in. Then he woke up just in time to grill us some yummy steaks with a shallot, mushroom red wine sauce and make us some amazing rosemary, thyme roasted potatoes. Yummm. The rest of the day we just played around until Thom went to work and I took the kids to Jolene and John's for dinner.Where we found out that almost all restaurants are closed on the 4th. We did eventually find one pizza place open. After a lot of intense playing, some super cute flirty smiles from Collin, a major breakdown on Lauren's part (sorry!), eating some yummy pizza, Kai being cranky and clingy, and a very nice "thank you" from Haiden to me, we headed home for the night. I wanted to get Kai home to keep the routine going. He fell asleep pretty smoothly last night but woke up at least 20 times from all the fireworks in our neighborhood. When he woke up he basically just sat up in bed, cried out and then fell back on his face and went to sleep. Lauren and I stayed up late to watch the fireworks. We watched them from my bedroom window. I think this may have been the best seat in all of Seattle to watch them.
