4 Month Stats

Our little boy had his 4 month check up yesterday.
He is 15lbs 15 oz - 75th% , 26-1/2" long - 90th% and
his head was 70th%
He had to get 3 shots, which he was not happy about and is still a little warm and cranky over.

I've been meaning to write up a little summary about the tests he had in January on his kidney.
As most or all of you know Kai only has 1 kidney. They did an ultrasound at birth to confirm this fact and again at 1 month to make sure it was growing at the correct rate. It was. Then they did a third ultrasound at 3 months to check the growth again. During this third ultrasound one of the radiologists thought she saw some dilitation of the kidney or reflux of the urine back into the kidney. This can cause both bladder and kidney infections so they were concerned and wanted to do a VCUG test. This test would confirm or deny what they thought they saw on the ultrasound. Last Monday we took Kai for this test. They strapped the poor guy down to xray him while they filled his bladder with dye. It was a pretty rough procedure and he was not too happy. It was awful. The good news is that the kidney is functioning perfectly. The next step will be to meet with the renal clinic further down the road to discuss the limitations if any of him participating in contact sports. Other than that he will not have to live any differently then any other little boys. We were happy to confirm what we already knew - that he is a super healthy boy!

Kai at 4 months-
He loves being naked. He immediately grabs both feet and smiles. He is super ticklish. He still laughs a lot, especially at Lauren. She doesn't even need to do anything directly to him to make him laugh. He stares at her like she's a goddess. He is talkative and squeals loudly. I guess he has to in order to be heard over Lauren. He is not sleeping through the night yet and still loves to be swaddled. We need to stop this soon since he always breaks free at some point in the night. He still only rolls from front to back but he gets up on his side like he's planning on going the other direction soon. He always has something in his mouth and even has a little rash around his mouth since it's always wet. He loves his bathtime. He likes when we read at night. He "talks" to the book. Except for not sleeping through the night and the car screaming (yes he does it too) he is a real joy.
