Lauren has been excited about starting school all summer. She was always asking when she was going to start. Finally the day arrived. I met Thom and Lauren in the parking lot of her school yesterday. As soon as the door to the car opened, she smiled this huge smile and asked - "what do we do first Mom?" She then sang all the way from the car to the school where she let me take some pictures of her. She even smiled at the camera. She was on a total high. Yesterday was an introductory day so they were able to wander around to all the rooms to check everything out. The only part of the day she did not enjoy was lunch. She was kind of like - "lunch? we have this at home, why would I want to waste time doing that here?" Otherwise, she had a great day. Last night she was asking when she could go back. Then she asked if Thom and I would always be going with her. When I told her sometimes we would be there and sometimes we would not be, she said "I will cry and cry when you aren't there". As cute as that was to hear, I don't believe it. After watching her yesterday, I know that for 2 hours a week we will be a distant memory and that this is only the beginning. She's growing up whether we are ready for that or not!
